Developing a typeface based on a pattern - this was the challenge I got during a typography workshop at university. The pattern I worked with is displayed in background of the cover picture. As I started sketching and playing around with the shapes, I quickly discovered that the circles, straight lines and dots were perfectly suited for designing letters. I focused on these three shapes and created within four days - in collaboration with my fellow students Karina Soethe and Melissa Hieke - a lowercase alphabet of the typeface “sphere”.
